Greeting from the President, Prof. Sawamoto

Since its establishment in 2003, the Adult Neurogenesis Conference has played an important role as a forum for researchers in the field of adult neurogenesis to exchange information. This year, I took over the representation of the society from Dr. Tatsunori SEKI, and I conducted a questionnaire among all members in order to hear your opinions. As a result, we received majority support for the following four proposals to reform the meetings more attractive.

  1. Involve younger researchers in the management (54%)
  2. Increase the number of participants (57%)
  3. Provide an environment where researchers can interact with each other (50%)
  4. Provide a forum for the exchange of information on the latest experimental techniques (57%)

First, in response to point 1., in addition to the current Executive Committee, a Steering Committee has been set up to participate in the management. Six researchers have already been active. We are still looking for Steering Committee members, so please feel free to contact us if you are interested. Points 2. to 4. are also being considered by the Executive Committee and the Steering Committee.

Researchers attending this meeting can bring unpublished data and have in-depth discussions with participants on the common interest of biological phenomena of adult neurogenesis. Participating in this meeting provides a satisfaction that is different from that of larger conferences. We hope to make the meeting more meaningful so that researchers in the field of adult neurogenesis will be eager to attend. We would like to thank you all for your cooperation.
